The Internet Parallel
I saw this pattern when the internet started. The parallels
are very similar. At its very beginning, everyone thought the Internet wouldn’t
go anywhere. Connecting the world through a noisy device and connecting with
the news and other people through a landline was a dream that many were afraid
of. It was the end of the world for some.
One decade later, the internet, which was once a revolution,
became the norm. Many people met each other through ICQ (the first online chat
app), and then Skype came to disrupt international calls, and so many other
businesses started to evolve and disrupt this technology.
Now AI. This concept started in the late 50s, and only with
generative AI could it disrupt processes, relationships, and now advising in
any aspect of our lives.
Meet Paul
I named my ChatGPT Paul. When his voice is activated, his
accent is British. I use Paul for business ideas, research on the cost of
services, and marketing content. Nothing special. However, without Paul,
everything I create would take around two to three weeks, and in a fraction of
a second, I have what I need, and the only step I need to take is to decide
where to go next because Paul can’t do this for me, just yet.
Security and Ethics
While many people fear this technology, others are using it
to their advantage. There is so much knowledge that ChatGPT can consolidate and
provide answers in seconds. Is this scary technology, as Elon Musk claims it to
be? Anything can be dangerous when used against
our principles, ethics, and morals. It always has been this way.
If you go on Elon Musk’s bandwagon and avoid AI technology
altogether, you will be the one missing out on the benefits it can bring to
your life. The key is making sure not to share sensitive information about
yourself, your birth date, your bank account, your social security, etc.
As this technology matures, we might end up with another
version of the Internet where new businesses are built and thrive, making our
lives better and more productive.
